Roche at the STI & AIDS World Congress 2013

At this year’s annual meeting of the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Disease Research in Vienna/Austria, Roche contributed with a satellite symposium about integrated approaches in the testing of sexually transmitted diseases. A Roche forum provided the opportunity of meeting the symposium’s experts who shared experience about latest advance of sexually transmitted disease testing.

As technologies for the laboratory diagnosis of chlamydia and gonorrhea have tremendously improved, Barbara van der Pol, University School of Medicine in Bloomington/USA, presented findings from the VENUS trial. Cecile Bebear, University Hospital of Bordeaux/France, summarized technical advance in the testing for mycoplasma genetalium. Raj Patel from the department of Genitourinary Medicine at Southampton hospital showed insights into diagnosing herpes simplex virus with a fully automated PCR test on the cobas® 4800 system and with the Elecsys® HSV-1 IgG and HSV-2 IgG tests on cobas modular analyzer platform.
