Clotting is one of the main causes of blood gas and electrolyte analyzer downtime. This evaluation of over 3500 whole blood samples shows the different internal mechanisms used by the cobas b 123 POC system to eliminate the risk of analyzer downtime, due to clotted samples blocking the system.

This proof-of-performance white paper demonstrates that the cobas b123 POC (point-of-care) system is as true and accurate in its measurement of 17 critical care parameters, as well-established and widely used analyzers, such as the cobas b 221 analyzer, and the cobas6000 analyzer series. In order to demonstrate this, the document details the externally validated performance evaluations conducted with this POC system in order that potential users can have complete confidence that the results obtained for the critical care parameters assessed using this system are equivalent to those obtained with other well-recognized, widely-used analyzers.
